Caturing the moment (2): Shooting

Default Caturing the moment (2): Shooting

Moment 2

Shooting (1)

If using a DSLR do not be sidelined by "The distractor" on the back of the camera. If you can't see it through the viewfinder you cant capture it.

It helps to know your subject, especially when shooting sports. It allows you to concentrate on where and when the action will take place and who are the play makers.

If possible, when shooting leave a bit of space around your subject as this may make it bit easier to obtain a "nicer" pic when PP'g and cropping.

(1) This guy was fairly well known to the crowd, photographers, and announcer.

(2) In some cases the action is repetitive, predictable, and all you need to do is to track, with the shutter button partially depressed to achieve focus, the subject and shoot at the right time. This also applies to street photography, up to a point.

In other cases the action is not so predictable.

For motor sport, if there is just one vehicle in my view then I will track it.... just in case

(3) A single vehicle "incident". Notice the lighting. As always I feel great lighting really helps.

If there are a few vehicles, or birds/boats etc, very close together then will track them. It can make for a much better composition than just a "portrait".

(4) More than one subject in the pic really helps with the feeling of competition.
